REALTOR® Resolutions 2023

The last several months of 2022 saw a dwindling number of successful real estate transactions in Northern Nevada compared to recent years. In fact, in any given month September through December if all the deals were spread out evenly (which they never are, some realtors are ALWAYS busier than others) only an average of 23% of our area’s licensed sales agents would have been on either end of a successful transaction.
The dynamic nature of real estate mandates a mindset of adaptability and nimbleness — as real estate professionals we must pay attention to and respond to the macro and micro market climate changes as they happen. For 2023 I have chosen the word PREPARED as an acronym to set the tone for myself this coming year, thought some of my RE friends might appreciate:
✅ P for Professional- Treat each client with the respect they deserve, be organized and timely. Know your stuff! Treat others as you would want to be treated as a client.
✅ R for Responsive – Answer your phone, text back right away, find out the answer as soon as you can for clients and others involved in the transaction, show up on time. Always strive to deliver 100% for your client.
✅ E for Evolving – Keep learning and growing, pay attention to market stats and key economic indicators, know the current interest rate when asked, know what’s anticipated to come for your market, embrace new marketing strategies.
✅ P for People Skills— Consider the agent/s on the other side of the transaction as an ally, a partner and work together to solve any problems that arise. Be mindful of their commitment to their client and avoid being adversarial. Avoid burning bridges at all costs.
✅ A for Analytical — Put a lot of thought, analysis and time into comps and pricing strategies. Tour your client’s competition prior to listing and don’t just think resale, look at new construction as well. Make sure your client’s pricing is appropriate/realistic for their goal.
✅ R for Resourceful —Be creative in marketing and sales activities, partner with other agents to help sell your listing, look at feeder markets and niches (i.e. investment/rental) to help gain exposure for your listing.
✅ E for Experienced— Utilize the wisdom and skills honed over the duration of your career—even if outside of real estate (you can always draw parallels!) as the foundation to your future success. Consult with your broker if anything presents as questionable, that is what they are there for.
✅ D for Driven— Don’t be intimidated by a changing market, look for the opportunity to grow. You will learn more by having to work harder for that sale than to have simply placed a sign in the yard as the offers roll in. See that the challenge makes the successful sale even sweeter!
Happy & Successful 2023 to All!
