Amid delays due to the pandemic and to-be-expected build out hurdles the excitement and pent-up demand for what is sure to be a new local hot spot has reached a fevered pitch.
Zephyr Wine Bar owner Jennifer Walker half-jokingly says that as the opening nears she can’t get anything done in the new space located off of Wedge Parkway within the new MeadowCreek shopping center. All day long she is constantly interrupted by eager patrons peering into the space and often knocking on the door to ask about opening. But she is far from bothered by it— this excitement and demand for a new upscale wine bar experience is exactly what she was hoping for when she conceived of Zephyr.
Like many of us, Jennifer used the pandemic lock-down as a time of reflection on her career and life. She was able to slow down and fan the embers of her deepest desires and from there reset her personal compass. Jennifer’s background has been in high-end corporate event planning, and she’s been extremely successful at it, but there was also a deeper desire that she finally began to embrace. Jennifer has always wanted to create a place where friends and fellow community members could come together in an upscale setting to celebrate and grow their passion for beautiful wines.
Jennifer has been studying wine since 2009 and has been under the tutelage of a master sommelier, her passion for and knowledge of wine runs deep. Yet instead of conveying an air of authority and thus intimidation around the subject Jennifer strives to gently nudge her wine knowledge into the spirit of Zephyr with the ultimate goal of making hard-to-find, one-of-a-kind wines from around the world accessible— and maybe even eventually preferred among the palates of her customers.
If you drink, for example, chardonnay, you can certainly order a lovely glass of Sonoma County chardonnay or maybe be nudged to try a South African vintage to awaken your taste buds to something new. Or maybe instead of a full-bodied Napa red try a uniquely luscious red blend from Lebanon.
Zephyr Wine Bar will offer seventeen thoughtfully selected wines by the glass as well as bottles to open and share or take home. A professional chef created menu of bite pairings will be available as well as easy ordering and delivery from neighboring outlets such as Longboards Pizza and Wine & Cheese Board. Additionally if you prefer beer to wine, Piñon Brewery is right next door and you are free to carry drinks between the two establishments.
Zephyr Wine Bar is located across the street from Reno Ice. There is indoor seating for approximately 70 patrons, with a private room that can accommodate up to 24 people. Plentiful patio seating will be available and surrounded by picturesque meadow and mountain views.
